Initial consultation If you decide to make an appointment for an initial in-person consultation, that first appointment typically lasts about 60-75 minutes, and costs $600 which is paid at the time of that appointment (we accept checks, cash, Mastercard, VISA and American Express). I also send an email summary after the meeting, which is included in the fee.

The first meeting allows you to become acquainted with me, to learn about premarital agreements and California community property law generally, and to give you some initial ideas about the possible contents of an agreement in light of your individual circumstances. We ask you to fill out a confidential new client questionnaire (this can be emailed to you in advance) so that the consultation can be tailored to your individual circumstances. The questionnaire asks for general information, and you do not need to bring detailed information or documents to the first meeting.

After the first meeting If you choose to retain me to assist you with an agreement, I will set a retainer (a refundable advance deposit into a trust account, against which fees and costs are billed at the end of each month). The retainer will reflect my best estimate of the cost of my work from start to finish. A detailed fee agreement will be prepared and reviewed with you before you retain me to represent you.
